WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS ~
for the 3rd Annual Show in Oct. 2008
from craftsmen/artisans/tradesmen who have distinguished themselves in the field of traditional decorative arts or have been juried into Early American Life magazine's "Directory of Traditional American Crafts" (or as it has been known in past years ("200 Best American Craftsmen"), from past or present years. This is a juried & invitational exhibit of your skills in a setting reminiscent of a colonial market square of the 18th Century.
The focus of this event is the individual craftsmen/women. No factory made items, including shops/studios that employ automated equipment (such as CNC machinery), no items made from kits, no imports, Only a limited number of applicants from each craft/trade will be invited. The application received from craftsmen/women that we are unable to accommodate for this event, will be kept on file awaiting a future invitation. I hope that you will understand that, in most cases, the quality of your submission and your craftsmanship will not be the reason, should you not receive an invitation to this Faire. It will most likely be that your category is already filled. We will consider applications from the waiting list as openings become available. We do not want too many exhibitors whose "wares" are very similar in any category.
If you are not an EAL magazine selected craftsman, but, you work in the early American traditional manner and have distinguished yourself in your chosen craft, you are encouraged to contact us to find out more about exhibiting with us:
~ After sending us the online invitation request form available at the bottom of this page, we will contact you about sending us the following information ~
. No less than 5 photographs (you may send digitals by email). These MUST be clear and of good quality. If the pictures are out of focus or are not of sufficient resolution, we cannot jury your work.
. Submissions will be considered as they come in and you will receive an invitation within about two weeks of your submission (of course, as already stated, this depends on the availability of space within your category).
~ Preparation of your pictures for submission ~
. On the back of each photo, label with: your name and email address, phone or fax.
. 3 photos of 3 different items you have made. 1 closeup of a detail from one of the pieces
. 1 or more pictures of your tent, display of wares and you in costume.
. Please note if we have permission to use the images in advertising the Faire, either in print or on the website.
. If we are unable to include your product in the Faire, your photos will be returned
. We request that you NOT send samples, as we will be unable to return them to you, whether you are accepted or not.
. Include a brief summary outlining the accomplishments in which you have distinquised yourself such as where you have exhibited, special projects you have worked on, publications you may have been featured in and the awards or honors that have been given you, etc. You can email all of this to us if you like.
I would appreciate an email confirmation of your commitment to exhibit, so that we may include
you on the website as a participating artisan.
